This veteran pass rusher sends a message, could the Bills be next for him?

T.J. Watt didn’t say much-but he didn’t have to.

The longtime Steelers pass rusher posted a cryptic photo to social media this week, sparking immediate speculation that his time in Pittsburgh may be winding down. No caption, just a grayscale image of Watt and a single clock emoji. That was enough to set the NFL rumor mill into overdrive.

Chiefs new nightmare! DK Metcalf gets traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers and makes them dangerous

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport weighed in Thursday on Good Morning Football, hinting that Watt’s post was likely linked to ongoing contract tension. “Negotiations aren’t going great,” Rapoport said.“That’s usually when guys start sending these kinds of messages.”

Could Buffalo be a sneaky fit?

If Watt really is available, the Buffalo Bills have to at least make a phone call. Sure, the cap space is tight-but the need is real. With Von Miller nearing the end and inconsistency from the younger guys, the Bills could use a proven finisher off the edge. Watt, even at 31, still fits that mold.

Despite a late-season drop-off in 2024, he still racked up 11.5 sacks and earned All-Pro honors. But there’s concern in Pittsburgh that Watt’s best days may be behind him-especially with a $30+ million cap hit looming and another contract negotiation on deck.

Buffalo’s front office, led by GM Brandon Beane, has worked cap magic before. Restructuring deals to clear room for a player like Watt isn’t impossible-it’s just complicated. But after falling short in the postseason again, the urgency in Buffalo is real.

Would the Steelers actually trade their defensive cornerstone? It’s unclear. But if they do, the Bills shouldn’t wait for the perfect moment. They might already be on the clock.
