This past Friday night, March 6, 2026, a move took place that left many people around the NFL stunned. Maxx Crosby would leave the Las Vegas Raiders to join forces with the Baltimore Ravens.
The move caught virtually everyone by surprise. In fact, it had been widely assumed that Crosby would end up playing for the Dallas Cowboys. However, the Ravens ultimately presented a stronger package, convincing the silver and black to send their star defender to the East Coast franchise.
Amid the outcome, one person who also seemed satisfied with the result was minority owner Tom Brady. The Las Vegas franchise secured two first-round draft picks in return for the defensive end.
Tom Brady refused to trade Maxx Crosby to the Patriots
Another franchise that had shown interest in Crosby’s services was the New England Patriots. However, everything suggests that Tom Brady played a decisive role in preventing negotiations from progressing between the two organizations.
According to an ESPN insider who knew about the discussions surrounding Crosby’s trade, Brady reportedly made his stance clear regarding the possibility of sending the pass rusher to New England.
No way Tom was sending Maxx to Vrabel.
With this decision, Brady appears determined to continue keeping a certain distance from the franchise where he built his legendary career and ultimately became the greatest player in NFL history.
It is worth remembering that days before Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, the former quarterback publicly expressed support for the eventual champions, although he later walked back the remark.
By then, however, the comment had already generated controversy.
Tensions surrounding Brady’s relationship with the organization intensified when he departed the team in 2020. Most of those issues were believed to be connected to former head coach Bill Belichick rather than team owner Robert Kraft.
In fact, before the start of the 2025 season, a statue honoring Brady was unveiled outside Gillette Stadium. During that ceremony, the legendary quarterback addressed the crowd with visible emotion.
This is quite overwhelming to me.”…. ‘I feel extremely honored, deeply grateful and, if I’m being honest, kind of old.

Now Brady faces an enormous challenge with the Raiders organization. He is tasked with helping guide a complete rebuilding process for the franchise. As a starting point, Las Vegas now holds two very valuable selections in the 2026 NFL Draft: the first overall pick and the fourteenth pick.
Reports suggest that the arrival of standout quarterback Fernando Mendoza from the Indiana Hoosiers is almost a certainty with the top selection. The organization is also expected to carefully evaluate its options for the fourteenth pick.
Extensive scouting and analysis are already underway as the Raiders attempt to identify the best possible collegiate talent. The goal is to rebuild the team from the ground up and allow the historic franchise to rise once again, much like a phoenix emerging from its ashes.
