Losing any type of game can bring down a player’s mood, but losing a Super Bowl is the worst possible feeling for a football player. Even if you’ve won one, the losses sting more, as Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts revealed after taking down the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month. Hurts still feels the pain from their first meeting two years ago.
Now, that pain has been transferred to Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the rest of the Kansas City team. Despite having won three Super Bowls, their two defeats have taken a mental toll on the players. Kelce seems to be the one that’s most affected, as he was visibly crushed following the game. We’ve barely seen or heard from him recently, as he appears to be taking a major break from social media.
Family first! Jason Kelce makes a statement around his future
Kelce’s last action on X was a repost of a New Heights account post in which Shannon and Sterling Sharpe were congratulated for becoming the first brothers to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. On Instagram, his last post came before the Super Bowl.
Travis Kelce is taking time off of his New Heights podcast
Kelce has also taken time away from his podcast, “New Heights”. It was announced a few days ago that there would be no new episodes this week, with only a vague “we’ll be back” given.
Kelce was brave enough to appear on the show just three days after the Super Bowl loss, but he was clearly emotionally distraught and still reeling. The week after, the show re-released an old episode in which the brothers had an incredible conversation with Adam Sandler.
It’s clear that Travis needs time away from just about everything, and he’s unwilling to publish what he’s going through on social media and through the show. He’s likely spending quality time with his family and friends, as he continues to ponder what his future holds.
