Over the weekend, Jason Kelce gave some clues about a potential retirement for his brother, the legendary Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. He mentioned, however, that we’ll likely have to wait for a final decision, as the adrenaline of the game can make these kinds of choices complicated.
Travis Kelce gets an unexpected request from longtime rival Derwin James Jr.
While some players are leaving the league, others are making surprise returns – like Philip Rivers, who at 44 years old came back to the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts, reigniting the debate about who else should follow suit.
That’s exactly where the conversation turned on the Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast, when Travis asked who should be next.
So… Who should be the next retired player to return to the NFL?
“What other retired player should get back out there?” Travis Kelce started, to which Jason replied, “I was thinking about this, who else would be? Like…”
In the end, it was the future husband of Taylor Swift who said he knew one guy who’s still trying to stay in shape – and who, truthfully, wouldn’t look bad at all back with his old team, the Philadelphia Eagles.
“I mean, I know a guy still tryin’ to prove his athleticism and tryin’ to dunk,” Travis said.
That sparked a series of complaints from Jason about the condition of one of his arms.
“Travis, I can’t bend my elbow right now. I got a loose body. I can’t even touch my face right now because I got a loose body…” he explained. “That’s what I’m trying to do, to avoid surgery.”
After Travis kept pushing for Jason to go to rehab, the legendary former Eagles center shut it down firmly: he’s not the one coming back to the NFL.
“Anyways, it’s not gonna be me,” Jason said – making it clear he has zero plans for a comeback.
Jason Kelce is 38 years old and retired after a 13-year NFL career in which he established himself as one of the most dominant centers in the league. The answer is clear on his end – now we just have to wait and see when Travis Kelce decides to call it a career.
