Travis Kelce said he was moved by LeBron James after the Los Angeles Lakers star praised the Kansas City Chiefs tight end for smashing an NFL record, although the 35-year-old admits he only cares about beating the Buffalo Bills.
The veteran footballer produced 117 yards against the Houston Texans on January 18’s divisional game; and with that, broke the record for most consecutive games with 100+ receiving yards in the NFL Playoffs.
One admirer of his effort was the four-time NBA champion, who quickly headed to social media to hype up his fellow Ohio native, since both sports stars hail from the Cleveland area, and it left Kelce feeling emotional.
“Now, see, this got me going,” said Kelce on his New Heights podcast, of the praise from the Laker icon. “This was great. Thanks, ‘Bron.”

The consecutive receptions record also pairs up with the tight end breaking Tony Gonzalez‘s franchise record for most touchdowns, two highlights in an otherwise challenging season for the seasoned player.
But there is a time and place for reflection on and celebrating records, and Kelce isn’t interested in them at the moment as he has his eyes firmly set on crushing Josh Allen‘s Bills in the AFC Championship game.
“All these stats and accolades and everything, they’ll be cool when I’m done playing,” Kelce added. “I’ll be able to look back and say, ‘Nice, man.’ But right now, I’m just focused on beating the Buffalo Bills.
“I could really care less about passing any of Jerry Rice‘s records, and, shoutout to Jerry Rice. I’m not saying that to downplay that.”
The Chiefs take on the Bills at the Arrowhead Stadium on January 26 from 18:30 ET/15:30 PT, live on CBS Sports, with Taylor Swift expected to be in attendance.
The winner will take on either the Philadelphia Eagles or Washington Commanders in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on February 9.
