There is no question that Tua Tagovailoa’s injury has left the Miami Dophins hopeless until he can return to the field. Head coach Mike McDaniel has decided to put Skylar Thompson in as the starter for the time being but his performances have not been what everyone wanted to be, especially the last in Seattle against the Seahawks.
He even got injured during the brutal loss, as he left the game on Sunday with hurt ribs and Tim Boyle had to get snaps. With that said, Tyler Huntley is in the team’s practice squad but the amount of talent the team has needs to be exploited otherwise it might be too late.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has propose that the team should trade for an experienced quarterback that can fit the system and become reliable for the time being and if Tua can’t go at times, given his long list of concussions. The names thrown out there make sense.
Three ideas to stay competitive
The Dolphins still have what it takes to compete in the AFC East and in the conference, but they need to start winning. Adam Schefter’s take is an interesting one, considering that veteran should be involved in the mix of options.
“I think I’d call Denver and I’d say, ‘What would you want for Zach Wilson?’ I would call Pittsburgh and I would say, ‘What would you want for Russell Wilson?’ And I would call Cleveland and say, ‘What do you want for Dorian Thompson-Robinson?’ Because they have to save their season here,” the insider said on the Pat McAfee Show.
“Now, maybe Tyler Huntley can step in in relief here and stop the bleeding and get things back in order. … But to me, they have to look for another quarterback, too, and those would be the guys that I would be looking at if it were me,” he added.
While there is still much speculation on whether this will happen or not, the reality is that if Tua comes back, this team needs to have a winning record or at least .500. If they are far from it, the season might be over soon for them.
