Tyreek Hill’s future starts to look away from Miami: Dolphins considering trade

The Miami Dolphins could be making headlines for a blockbuster trade that may reshape their roster heading into the 2025 NFL season.

Reports suggest that the Dolphins are contemplating a deal that would send their star wide receiver Tyreek Hill and the 224th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Green Bay Packers.

In return, Miami would receive Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, and the 198th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The proposed trade is seen as a strategic effort by the Dolphins to bolster their defense, which has been a concern heading into the new season.

Adding Jaire Alexander would provide the team with a top-tier cornerback to partner with Jalen Ramsey, instantly forming one of the most formidable defensive back duos in the NFL.

The plan is for Kader Kohou to assume the nickelback role, further enhancing Miami’s defensive depth.

Despite Alexander‘s recent injury struggles, playing as the team’s number two cornerback rather than the primary option could help him stay healthier over the long run.

Alexander has been limited to just seven games per season over the past two years. However, Miami hopes that a change of environment and reduced responsibility could be the key to unlocking his full potential.

Offensive Adjustments in Miami

Trading away Tyreek Hill would undeniably be a tough pill to swallow for the Dolphins. The loss of the five-time All-Pro receiver would leave a noticeable void in their offensive attack.

However, the acquisition of Romeo Doubs offers some hope of filling that gap, even if he has yet to fully prove himself as a reliable option. Doubs, 25, is entering the final year of his contract and has mostly served as a committee receiver during his time in Green Bay.

Miami would likely look to maximize his talents alongside Jaylen Waddle, Nick Westbrook-Ikhene, and Malik Washington. It’s also likely that the Dolphins will consider drafting another wide receiver to enhance their offensive unit further.

Why The Packers Are Interested

From the perspective of the Green Bay Packers, this trade could solve a significant problem.

Without a true number-one wide receiver, the team’s offensive production has been inconsistent. Tyreek Hill would immediately address that issue, providing an explosive playmaker to complement their quarterback’s skill set.

Additionally, moving on from Jaire Alexander and Romeo Doubs now, rather than later, could benefit the Packers in the long run. Neither player is expected to be a part of Green Bay’s long-term plans, and acquiring Hill could be the key to rejuvenating their offense.

The potential trade also offers Miami a boost in draft capital, moving them up 26 spots from pick 224 to 198. The improved draft position could be the sweetener that pushes this deal over the line. However, nothing is set in stone yet, as both teams are still in the evaluation phase.

If the deal is completed, it would undoubtedly shake up the NFL landscape, giving Miami a better defensive lineup and Green Bay a much-needed offensive spark. With the 2025 NFL Draft fast approaching, time is running out for both teams to make their final decisions.
