Victor Wembanyama became the youngest All-Star in San Antonio franchise history and the first Spurs player to be selected in one of his first two seasons since Tim Duncan in 1997-98.

Following his first season where he won the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year award, Wembanyama has played and started in 38 games during the 2024-2025 season, averaging 24.5 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists and 1 steal in 33 minutes.

Wild height difference! Victor Wembanyama praises Muggsy Bogues and make him look like a toddler

The French player is the only baller in the NBA this season to average at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, 1 three-pointer and 1 block per game. With 150 blocks so far, Wembanyama has 60 more blocks than any other player in the NBA and holds an active streak of 34 straight contests with a rejection and a three – the longest streak in league’s history.

Wemby praises Muggsy Bogues

Victor Wembanyama enjoyed his first All-Star Game chatting with other superstars and getting to know some of the NBA legends, such as Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues, the shortest player in the league’s history, standing at 5’3.

Chris Paul, a veteran guard who also plays for the San Antonio Spurs, was chatting with Bogues when Wemby got near them and he decided to greet Muggsy. The former Washington Bullets, Charlotte Hornets, Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors player was impressed with Wembanyama’s height, who stands at 7’3.

Wemby praised Bogues for his impact in the game – he inspired fans including NBA players like Stephen and Seth Curry -, having set the franchise record for steals with the Hornets and ranking second in the league for assists during the 1993-1994 season.

Victor told Muggsy that he was one of the first players he ever got to see live, when the NBA made a stop at Paris years ago and that had a big impact on his life. Bogues, who recently turned 60 years, thanked Wemby for his words.

As the 12th pick in the 1987 Draft, he played 14 years in the league, averaging 7.6 assists per game (21st all-time) and averaged a double-double in the 1993-1994 regular season.

Wemby’s impact on the NBA

In just his second season, Victor Wembanyama is already the only player in NBA history with multiple seasons recording 150+ blocks, 100+ assists, and 100+ three-pointers. Earlier this year, the French center became the first player in NBA history to record 2,000+ points, 1,000+ rebounds and 200+ three-pointers in his first 100 career games.

His presence is felt in every court he steps in and he’s looking to give the San Antonio Spurs a chance to compete in the playoffs. On February 3rd, the team announced that it had acquired guards De’Aaron Fox and Jordan McLaughlin from the Sacramento Kings in a three-team deal that included the Chicago Bulls.

Fox, former University of Kentucky star, is one of only six players that have had 10,000 points, 3,000 assists and 700 three-pointers, joining superstars like LeBron James, Luka Doncic, James Harden, Trae Young and Damian Lillard. If he can click with Wemby’s, they will become a force to reckon with.
