The Warriors big man put on a masterclass in awareness, proving he’s always locked in, even when the ball isn’t in play.

Looney showed he’s built for multitasking, handling more than just rebounds and screens. This time, he saved a courtside reporter from what could’ve been a brutal collision-because let’s be real, taking a basketball to the dome isn’t exactly a fun experience.

Kerith Burke, the lucky journalist, was inches away from an unexpected headache before Looney stepped in. Basketballs aren’t exactly pillows, and this one was coming in hot. If Looney hadn’t reacted in time, Burke would’ve been dealing with a serious headache for the rest of the day. Instead, she was left stunned but beyond grateful for Looney’s quick hands, giving him props to prevent what could’ve been a rough afternoon.

With barely a flick of his wrist, Looney deflected the ball like it was nothing-saving the day before disaster struck. Social media instantly crowned him the ultimate hero, with Burke herself joking that he might’ve just saved her life. Maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but if you’re not a fan of unexpected headshots, it probably felt that way. Especially since she had her back turned to the action-talk about an anxiety spike!

The whole scene was so epic, it gave fans flashbacks to Evan Longoria’s legendary (and very staged) commercial, where he “saved” a reporter from a screaming line drive. The difference was that Looney actually did it for real. No edits, no second takes-just pure reflexes.
