Jason Kelce is sharing some unexpected yet practical wisdom for soon-to-be fathers. His wife, Kylie Kelce, recently revealed on her Not Gonna Lie podcast that the retired NFL star has a foolproof trick to help dads avoid passing out in the delivery room.
According to Kylie, Jason believes that many men faint during childbirth because of an adrenaline rush when the pushing stage begins. After hours of waiting, fathers suddenly spring into action, causing a quick shift in blood sugar levels. His solution? A snack.
“He is convinced that men pass out because when pushing starts, and birth amps up, you stand up and get this rush of adrenaline,” Kylie explained.
“A lot of times, you’ve gone from sitting all day to jumping up in an excited situation.”
Jason’s advice is simple-eat something right before mom starts pushing. Kylie admits the tip sounds funny, but after three deliveries, she sees the logic behind it.
“I don’t remember which birth it was, but I do remember looking over as I got the shakes, and I’m like, ‘We’re going,'” she recalled.
“And he’s mid-bite, getting ready to hold me.” She added with a laugh.
“But he hasn’t passed out-so take the advice. Just have a little sneaky snack before the slip and slide happens.”
The best part of being a Dad
Beyond delivery room strategies, Jason has also shared what he loves most about fatherhood. On the February 26 episode of his New Heights podcast with his brother Travis Kelce, he talked about how much he enjoys watching their youngest daughter, Bennett, learn new things.
“Seeing the learning process and curiosity of a child all manifesting-that’s probably my favorite part about being a parent,” Jason said.
He described how even the smallest milestones bring his daughter so much joy.
“Something as simple as figuring out how to open the fridge-there’s always something that just blows her mind,” he explained.
“Right now, she’s spending the entire day unscrewing and screwing a water bottle, and it’s like the best thing ever.”
With their fourth daughter on the way, Jason and Kylie are embracing all the little moments of parenthood-one snack and life lesson at a time.
