We are just a few hours away from the start of the NFL playoffs, and of the 14 teams that are qualified for the postseason, only two are looking for their first appearance in a Super Bowl.
The Houston Texans and the Detroit Lions are the two franchises looking for their first appearance in an NFL championship game, while the remaining 12, nine of them have already been champions at least once, and three more are looking for their first Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings have all played on Super Sunday without the desired results.

In fact, Bills and Vikings have four Super Bowl losses, while the Chargers lost in their only appearance when they played in San Diego.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos of the AFC have won two or more Super Bowls, while in the NFC the Los Angeles Rams, Washington Commanders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers have also won on two or more occasions, while the Philadelphia Eagles have one championship in their history in the Super Bowl era.
What Super Bowl rematches could we see this year?
There are several possibilities to see some rematches in a Super Bowl in these playoffs, for example, the first NFL championship game in January 1967, featured the Packers vs Chiefs, with a 35-10 victory for Green Bay.
The Packers also defeated the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV, and lost in Super Bowl XXXII against John Elway and the Broncos.
The Chiefs, who are looking for their third consecutive Super Bowl victory, something that has never happened before, won their first ring by defeating the Vikings in Super Bowl IV. They also defeated the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, and two years earlier lost to the Buccaneers and Tom Brady in Super Bowl LV.
We already said that the Steelers lost to Green Bay, but they could also have another rematch against the Vikings, whom they beat in Super Bowl IX, and they could also face the Rams again, whom they beat in Super Bowl XIV, in the last title of one of the best dynasties of all time with the famous Steel Curtain.
While Denver, in addition to defeating Green Bay, lost Super Bowl XXII to Washington, then known as the Redskins.
The Bills, who lost four in a row, were also victims of the Redskins in Super Bowl XXVI, while Minnesota lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl IV and to the Steelers in Super Bowl IX.
These are the Super Bowls that have already been played between the teams still alive in the NFL playoffs:
- Kansas City Chiefs: Packers (I), Vikings (IV), Buccaneers (LV), Eagles (LVII).
- Pittsburgh Steelers: Vikings (IX), Rams (XIV), Packers (XLV).
