A few weeks ago, Cristiano Ronaldo surprised everyone with a new move in the world of soccer. This time it wasn’t for his goals, plays, or injury, but for announcing that he had acquired 25% of Unin Deportiva Almera in LaLiga Hypermotion, the Spanish second division, on February 26.
Now, his team has achieved a great 3-0 victory over Cultural Leonesa, placing them second in the table, and the 41-year-old Portuguese player couldn’t be happier or prouder.
CR7 celebrates Almera’s victory
Four points behind leaders Racing Santander and three points ahead of third-placed Castelln, CR7’s team’s position in the table guarantees them direct promotion to the top flight, LaLiga, which they are looking to return to after a two-year absence.
For this reason, the club’s new owner since February decided to publicly congratulate Almera and shared this achievement with his 672 million followers on Instagram.
In his stories, CR7 posted a photo of the team celebrating on the field and gathered in a big group hug for this victory. In addition, the Al Nassr star wrote in Spanish:
“Gran victoria hoy. Seguimos @audalmeria” [Great victory today. We’re still going @audalmeria],” along with red and white emojis in honor of the club.

His new acquisition was made through CR7 Sports Investments, a new subsidiary of CR7 SA, at the end of February, and in his statement he said:
“I have long had the ambition to contribute to soccer beyond the field. UD Almera is a Spanish club with a strong foundation and clear growth potential. I look forward to working with the team that leads it to support the club in its new phase of growth,” Cristiano said in the text, according to ESPN.
Meanwhile, CR7 is in Spain after traveling to Madrid to treat his hamstring injury following Al Nassr’s last match against AlFayha (3-1), where he had to be replaced.
He is expected to miss Al Nassr’s match against Al-Khaleej on Saturday and is doubtful for Portugal’s last two friendlies before the World Cup against Mexico and USMNT on March 28 and 31, respectively.
