Taylor Swift is a name that most artists would want to work with given her standing within the music industry.

That’s why it’s no surprise that Lil Nas X has spoken about a potential collaboration with the Bad Blood singer. The 25-year-old recently spoke with E! News at the GLAAD Media Awards about how the two worked together on one of Swift’s songs, but that it never came to be in the end.

“We were working on something,” said Lil Nas X. “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.”

The fact the song didn’t come together seemingly stings Lil Nas X, who said he didn’t “even want to talk about” what could have been, though he did praise Swift.

“I’m proud of my girl,” he said. “I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me.”

While a collaboration between Lil Nas X and Swift will have to wait, the 25-year-old has never hidden his admiration for the music sensation.

Back in November he posted a snap of a Midnights-themed calendar to his Instagram Stories.

As for his own career, Lil Nas X shared his thoughts on his new era following the release of Days Before Dreamboy in March.

“I wanna be myself more than ever this era,” Lil Nas X said. “I want to be completely free out there, only doing the things that I wanna do. If I do not want to do it, I’m not doing it.

“If I don’t want be there, I’m not gonna be there. I think it’s more important than ever to really stand in myself and my power and recognize where I’m taking my energy and where I don’t want to take it.”
