Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy had a strong response after Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond fell short in his attempt to break Worthy’s 40-yard dash record, only posting a 4.39 time.
The 21-year-old set a blazing 4.21-second record at last year’s NFL Combine before being selected by the Arrowhead Stadium’s front office, and wasted no time defending his own legacy and performance.

“There’s fast then there’s me,” Worthy wrote to X.com, formerly Twitter, on Saturday, delivering a succinct message to those trying to claim his crown and those delivering big talk and no results.
This response came after Bond confidently predicted he would surpass Worthy‘s time, even in the days leading up to the Combine, he expressed high expectations for himself, believing he could set a new record as though it was easy.
“I’m going to break the record tomorrow, for sure,” Bond stated on Friday. “I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly, if I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1.
“I’ve been running my whole life. I’ve been one of the fastest my whole life, so I’m going to go out there, and when practice meets preparation, greatness is achieved. So I’m just going to trust my training and put on a show.”
Worthy responds to failed attempts
However, when it came time to perform, Bond‘s 4.39-second run was far from what he had predicted, and he wasn’t the only youngster from the Longhorns program with bold aspirations.
Running back Jaydon Blue also claimed he would break Worthy‘s record, saying, as per CJ Vogel, “I think I’ll break the record. 4.1 or 4.20.”
Despite coming from the same collegiate program, Worthy did not hold back in reacting to Bond’s and Blue’s failed attempts.
“Respect those who come before you,” Worthy posted on his Instagram story, a direct message to Blue, urging him to respect those who set the standard before him.
After making history at the 2024 NFL Combine, Worthy went on to prove his value with the Kansas City Chiefs.
He had an impressive rookie season and played a key role in the team’s progression to Super Bowl LIX victory.
Although they lost, Worthy produced eight receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns, solidifying his place as one of the NFL’s rising stars.
