My NYFW SS26 Presentation introducing: Miss USA 1991. At first glance, it is a surreal albeit camp commentary about pageants and the utter objectification and misogyny that exists in that culture. But layered, like an easter egg in the subtext of the storyline, is a story of 7 trans women on public display all representing US States that have had trans rights revoked in the last 6 months. This has all happened with the public continuing to be passive and complicit, watching. Wanted to thank so many people, starting with Vivian Wilson. This was her first ever runway show, and having her trust me with the sensitivity of this topic was a big deal, as she obviously has been in the middle of the storm. I also wanted to thank the other amazing contestants; Tommy Dorfman, 3fron, Niko Haagenson, Amara Xtravaganza, and Gia Love. Additionally the incredible Sarah Meahl who was the Choreographer, Bernat Buscato for styling the show, Marco Ovando as Videographer and Mac Cosmetics with lead Makeup Artist Marieke Thibaut, and finally hair by Aveda.
