The Dallas Mavericks, equipped with two of the NBA‘s premier offensive talents, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, have debunked the notion that their weakest link was at the helm.
Initially critiqued for his coaching, Jason Kidd has led the Mavericks to a solid playoff performance, resulting in his recent contract renewal after overcoming the Los Angeles Clippers in a 4-2 series victory.

Soon after the Mavericks clinched their spot in the second round of the postseason, the team announced an extension for Kidd. “We are proud to agree on a thoroughly deserved extension.
After two playoff appearances in three seasons and witnessing his leadership in building the future of the franchise,” stated Patrick Dumont, the principal owner of the Mavericks (holding a larger share than the well-known Mark Cuban).
The synergy between Doncic and Irving has been pivotal, with the duo scoring a combined 338 points in the playoffs-the highest by any pair in the history of the NBA’s first round.
Surrounding these stars with capable role players like Gafford, Lively, and PJ Washington has transformed the team, allowing the two stars to reach their peak performance during the playoffs.

Kidd’s strategy
Kidd‘s strategy involves leveraging the present capabilities of his players, particularly Irving, whose past controversies have been overshadowed by his current contributions.
“We are in the present with them. With Irving, we don’t see what was written in the past, only what happens now. He is rewriting his journey. Before, no one thought he would fit with Luka,” Kidd remarked.
This approach has silenced doubts about Irving’s fit with the team, leading to a harmonious and effective partnership on the court.

In the second round, the Mavericks are set to face the regular season Western Conference champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
With Kidd‘s renewed mandate, he aims to continue proving his worth as the right leader for one of the NBA’s most scrutinized coaching positions.
Dallas now looks forward with a clear direction and a strategic guide for the future, aptly supported by their dynamic duo, whom Kidd likened to ‘Batman and Robin’.
