Already on the trail of Brandon Ingram to find a super star that can help their attack, it seems the Sacramento Kings have found their man. While they are still looking for De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, the Kings had another target in sight, and it is reportedly true that they have landed him.
Former Chicago Bulls player DeMar DeRozan is on his way out west to wear black and purple with the team in what to many is a very surprising deal. However, this confirms that the team is ready to make a splash in the offseason and also in the conference to try and compete against the Mavericks, Nuggets, Clippers and Lakers.
Some teams were considering getting him via a “sign-and-trade”, such as the Miami Heat, the Los Angeles Lakers or even the San Antonio Spurs to return to this organization and make them competitive, but now things have changed in the future of the league and for the player.
Everything happened within hours
As reported by a few insiders, DeMar DeRozan landed in Sacramento still without a contract, just before he met with Kings management on Saturday for a possible agreement.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said that “DeMar DeRozan certainly played his last game with the Chicago Bulls,” something that urged everyone to believe that he could go to another contender but not many had him in Sacramento until this week.
Now, according to the analyst, “The Sacramento Kings are acquiring free agent guard DeMar DeRozan in a three-year, $74 million sign-and-trade deal,” he posted.
Sacramento is trading Harrison Barnes and an unprotected 2031 pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs and guard Chris Duarte, two second-round draft picks and cash to the Chicago Bulls, according to sources.
