Drake may not be in the news for the right reasons over the past month or so due to his beef with Kendrick Lamar, but when it comes to sports betting, the Canadian music artist always pops up for big events.
It seems like tradition that a high-profile sporting event comes with the news that Drake has bet hundreds of thousands of dollars on a specific team or athlete. That tradition continues for this year’s NBA Finals, and Dallas Mavericks fans are hoping the “Drake Curse” is just a figment of everyone’s imaginations.
Drake bets big on Dallas Mavericks to win NBA Finals
Drake has picked the Mavs as his series winner over the Boston Celtics. He’s putting $500,000 on the line, which would pay out $1,375,000 if he gets it right.
The reason for Drake being such a big sports bettor is that he partners with Stake, the “world’s leading betting platform“. It’s not actually available in the United States, but it is in Canada, where Drake spends most of his time.
His last big bet didn’t go very well. He put up $565,000 on Tyson Fury defeating Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk ended up winning by split decision. Drake and Mavs fans are hoping for a different result this time around.
