Following another disappointment in the UEFA Champions League and looking ahead to the 2026/27 season, Barcelona is beginning to outline a major restructuring of its roster.
The club’s leadership and Hansi Flick’s coaching staff are analyzing a roster overhaul, and in that context, there are at least five players who appear to have completed a cycle at the club.
5 Candidates to Leave Bara at the End of the Season
Whether due to age, performance, physical issues, or financial considerations, major departures are anticipated according to social media, press, and fans, and one of the clearest cases is Robert Lewandowski.
Although Lewi has a contract running through June 2026, there are no concrete developments indicating a renewal with the club. His scoring ability and track record speak for themselves, but his age and recent physical issues raise doubts about his future with the club.
Another possibility is Andreas Christensen. While his performance was solid at times, his recent knee injury and contractual situation further complicate his future at the club. His contract with Barcelona expires this summer, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the center back declined the club’s initial renewal offer.
Marc Casad also makes this list, as he never managed to establish himself as a solid option in Hansi Flick’s lineup, and his lack of playing time reduces his opportunities and positions him as another possible player to leave.
Another player is Frenkie de Jong. Although he is a key player from a footballing standpoint, his high salary and the club’s financial situation are reportedly incompatible, a situation that could push the club to sell him to ease its finances and create room for new signings.
Finally, Marcus Rashford. On loan from Manchester United, he left mixed impressions. While he brought speed and unpredictability, his performance wasn’t convincing enough for Barcelona to exercise the buyout option, set at 30 million euros.
In summary, these potential decisions reflect a Barcelona strategy focused on generational renewal and financial sustainability, aiming to build a more competitive team for the future.
