Former ESPN columnist and FS1 personality Jason Whitlock recently made a bold prediction about LeBron James and his son Bronny following the end of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ season. On his podcast “Fearless,” Whitlock compared the situation with LeBron and the Lakers to a failing marriage, suggesting that the franchise plans to fix it by bringing up Bronny James.
Whitlock expressed his views by stating, “With the league’s all-time leading scorer, the franchise has advanced to the NBA’s biggest stage once in six years. This is a bad marriage. It’s showing all the signs… When spouses realize, ‘Hey, this marriage is going sour,’ what do they do? One of the parties will go, ‘You know what will fix this? A baby… Let’s have another baby. That will fix it. Yeah that will rekindle the old spark that united us.”
He also highlighted the recent report by Shams Charania, where it was mentioned that Lakers owner Jeanie Buss was open to adding LeBron’s son, Bronny James, to the Lakers’ roster. Whitlock commented, “They’re so desperate to keep [LeBron] they’re willing to make his son a Make-A-Wish kid in the NBA.”
In a separate news story, there were hints that Bronny James might be transferring to another team, with a mysterious tweet from an NCAA head coach causing speculation. This further fueled the discussion around Bronny’s potential future in basketball.
LeBron’s legacy in question
This isn’t the first time Whitlock has taken aim at LeBron James. In 2020, he criticized LeBron, saying, “LeBron James is worshiped by sports fans by, many of his peers bi virtually everybody in the sports media. LeBron is a false god. He’s just a human being, just like everybody else. Yes, it’s great he can dunk a basketball, and he’s a t.”
Whitlock’s comments have sparked controversy and garnered attention from sports fans and media alike. His perspective on LeBron’s career and the potential involvement of Bronny in the Lakers’ future has certainly stirred up discussions.
It’s clear that Whitlock isn’t shy about expressing his opinions, even if they are controversial. Whether or not his predictions about LeBron and Bronny will come to fruition remains to be seen, but it’s evident that he has strong views on the matter. As the NBA offseason unfolds, it will be interesting to see how the situation with the James family and the Lakers plays out.
