Klay Thompson will join the Dallas Mavericks, a team that will seek to repeat in the NBA Finals and become champion. It has been reported that he has reached a three-year, $50 million deal, to try and bring the Mavs to the next level.
Thompson ended his era with the Golden State Warriors, a team with which he became champion four times. This has left all the parties involved very much touched forever, with the Mavericks looking for a ring and the Warriors probably ending their highly competitive reign.
To say thanks and goodbye to the people on the Bay, Klay Thompson posted an emotional message on social media that has everyone with watery eyes. “There are not enough words and images to convey how I really feel about y’all,” Thompson wrote.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. I really just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the region. The best part was not the rings though, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime.”
He also thanked his family and the community
Even when everything was around the fact that the Warriors will no longer be as competitive as they were, Klay had the time to acknowledge the importance of having his family involved with the team and the community by the Bay.
“My family and I would like to thank all of the amazing people who work tirelessly to make the @warriors organization world-class. Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened. Until we meet again. Sea captain out,” Thompson concluded.
As part of the agreement, there was a multi-team exchange, as Dallas sent Josh Green to the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets traded two second-round picks for Green, with one of them potentially going to Golden State, according to reports.
