Lamine Yamal reminded us all how young he is. At 18, the Barcelona star has won the affection of fans and the respect of his colleagues and rivals for his offensive talent at such a young age.
However, Lamine also proved to be a big fan of cartoons and anime, choosing two of his teammates to draw a parallel with the Pokmon series.

Lamine has made an impact both on and off the field, and this time was no exception. The promising young Bara player recently spoke with ESPN and made it clear that no matter how many titles and fame he has, he is still just an 18-year-old.
When he revealed that he is a big fan of the Pokmon series, having played with the cards as a child, he was asked to choose two of his Bara teammates who remind him of Pikachu and Charizard. Without hesitation, he replied:
“Pikachu would be Dani Olmo, for being blonde. Charizard? Tek Szczesny. He reminds me of him because he has an aura,” he said (via mundodeportivo).
The curious thing about his answer, beyond his choice, is that Olmo is almost a decade older (he is 27) and Wojciech Szczsny is almost twice his age (35). In addition, Lamine revealed that his favorite Pokmon is Zygarde.
Since his debut with Bara on April 29, 2023, at 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days old, Yamal became the youngest player to debut with the club in LaLiga and has been part of the team that won two LaLiga titles, one Spanish Super Cup, and the Copa del Rey.
With a short but successful career at the Catalan club, he was also named the best young player at Euro 2024 and finished second in the Ballon d’Or rankings after leading Bara to a domestic treble.
This season, he has played a total of 30 games, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists.
Meanwhile, Lamine and Barcelona are preparing to face Atltico Madrid on Thursday, February 12, in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium. In the second leg, the reigning champions of the competition will host their rivals at Spotify Camp Nou on March 3.
