Patrick Mahomes, the superstar quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, is gearing up for his 10-year high school reunion, but unfortunately, he won’t be able to attend the upcoming celebrations. Speaking to PEOPLE at the 2024 Super Bowl ring ceremony, Patrick revealed that it has been a decade since he left Whitehouse High School in Texas. Although he won’t be there in person, he expressed his best wishes for his former classmates.
“It’s in September. We actually talked about this with my friends last weekend,” Patrick shared with PEOPLE. “So, it’s 10 years for me, she’s older than me,” he added, pointing to his wife Brittany, who is also 28 years old. The couple, who are high school sweethearts, first met when Brittany was a junior and Patrick was a sophomore. “She’s at 11 now. But, I won’t be able to celebrate it but I’m gonna send my best wishes to all my classmates,” Patrick explained.
The Super Bowl ring ceremony, held at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, was a special event for Patrick and his teammates. Following the Chiefs’ impressive 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, 2024, Patrick had been named the Super Bowl 2024 MVP. The ceremony was a glitzy affair where the team received their well-deserved rings.
In a heartwarming moment at the event, Patrick and his teammate Travis Kelce met a young cancer survivor. The two players also encountered the survivor’s sister, who was proudly wearing a ‘Taylor’s Boyfriend’ shirt. It’s moments like these that showcase the impact that athletes like Patrick and Travis have beyond the football field.

Accompanying Patrick at the ceremony was his wife Brittany, who also shared some special moments with him. The couple has been together since their high school days, and their enduring love story is an inspiration to many. Their presence at the event added a touch of warmth and joy to the celebratory atmosphere.
While Patrick may not be able to attend his high school reunion in person, his spirit and well-wishes will undoubtedly be felt by his former classmates. As he continues to excel in his football career, both on and off the field, Patrick remains grounded and connected to his roots, making him not only a remarkable athlete but also a beloved figure in his community.
