Diego Pavia will have other NFL opportunities if things don’t work out with the Ravens

In just two seasons, Diego Pavia transformed from a mid-major prospect into one of college football’s biggest stories. The former Vanderbilt quarterback became a household name after leading a stunning upset over Alabama, powering the Commodores to a historic 10-win season in the SEC.

However, his NFL journey has taken an unexpected turn. In a surprising development, Pavia went undrafted in the NFL Draft before signing with the Baltimore Ravens as a priority undrafted free agent (UDFA). Now, the former college football star faces a new challenge: earning a roster spot at rookie minicamp.

The Baltimore opportunity

Pavia joins a quarterback room led by Lamar Jackson and backed by Tyler Huntley. While the depth chart is top-heavy, there’s a clear opening for a QB3 role, giving Pavia a legitimate path to stick on the roster.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN insider Adam Schefter explained why Baltimore could be an ideal landing spot:

“I’m sure he’s disappointed he didn’t get drafted, but this is a massive opportunity in Baltimore. The Ravens only have two quarterbacks on the roster… sometimes landing spot matters more than draft position. If he impresses, there’s a real roster opportunity.”

Even if things don’t work out immediately in Baltimore, Pavia’s NFL opportunities remain open. Schefter noted that multiple teams are monitoring the dual-threat quarterback.

“The Ravens’ minicamp is this weekend, but other teams have camps next week and want to bring him in if Baltimore doesn’t sign him,” he added. “He already has multiple NFL invites.”
